this page explains what cookies kernaudio.io uses and why. the short version: as few as possible.
what are cookies
cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. they help websites remember things, like your preferences or whether you've visited before. some are essential for the site to work. others are used for analytics or advertising.

analytics (optional)
these help me understand how people use the site: which pages are visited, where people drop off, and what i should improve. the cookies below are only set if you accept them.
before you choose, PostHog counts page views without cookies and without storing anything on your device: the visit is grouped by a hash made on the server from your IP address and browser, and that hash changes every day, so it cannot follow you from one day to the next. if you say no, that stops too and nothing is sent at all.

what i don't use
- no advertising or marketing cookies

field notes emails
the newsletter is sent with Resend. it counts opens (a small invisible image loads when you open an issue) and clicks (links pass through links.kernaudio.io on the way), so i can see which issues land. none of it is sold or shared, and unsubscribing stops it. if you'd rather not be counted, most mail apps can block remote images.
third-party services
Lemon Squeezy processes payments on my behalf. when you click "buy," their checkout overlay loads and may set cookies required for the transaction. their privacy policy is at lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.
PostHog provides privacy-focused product analytics. they don't sell data, don't use it for advertising, and i have configured it to respect your cookie preferences. their privacy policy is at posthog.com/privacy.
Netlify hosts this website. they may set technical cookies for CDN routing and security. their privacy policy is at netlify.com/privacy.
controlling cookies
when you first visit kernaudio.io, i ask whether you want to accept analytics cookies. you can change your preference at any time by clicking "cookie preferences" in the footer.
you can also control cookies through your browser settings. every major browser lets you block or delete cookies. note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent the checkout from working.
your rights
under the GDPR (EU) and similar regulations, you have the right to:
- know what data is being collected and why
- opt out of non-essential cookies at any time
- request deletion of your data
- withdraw consent at any time
